If you are a csection mom, chances are you've been told you took the easy way out. I am here to tell you that having to cut layers on layers to get a baby out is not the easy way out. Birth is not easy, period.
When your surgeon begins the csection your skin is what gets cut first followed by subcutaneous tissue directly under your skin. After that the fascia (composed of two different fascial layers) that lies on top of the rectus abdomens gets incised. From there your rectus muscle gets separated, which allows the surgeon to get into your abdominal cavity through the parietal peritoneum. From there, your surgeon may need to move around organs in order to finally get to your uterus.
Once your surgeon gets to your he has to cut through three uterine layers (perimetreum, myometrium, endometrium) and handle any internal obstacles related to blood vessels, blood flow, the amniotic sac, etc. in order to get to your baby.
I hope you read this and realize how strong you are. How you laid awake or were put to sleep while all of these layers inside of your body were cut and moved around in order to bring your baby into this life. You did not take the easy way out. You took the necessary route.
